Always wanted to go but having read this thread, and spoken to a mate of mine who hated it for much the same reasons, I'll give it a miss.

Re: Travel Advice for Marrakech
I found it beatiful and peaceful and the people were lovely and respectful. Very different from Russians (obviously) and some real stunners there. I wouldn't really reccomend going though as there ain't that much there, I wasn't really there for tourism reasons

The misogyny on here isn't casual, it's on a more dedicated level.

It's not as much about the levels of hassle it's that there's FUCK ALL to do except wander around the souks.

I've been all over the world including india.. mongilia...non tourist jamaica and I still say Marrakech is a shithole.

Maybe if youre of darker skin or you have an ugly wife then it's less stressful?

Agree with that Lilly, been to Morocco twice, got snout on our own, stayed in few dodgy "Hotels' Explored the Medinas on our own, scored some hash, had dinner at someones house which is an honour, got hassled a lot, ripped off but also met some very kind people there too.
It won't suit all in package holiday types unless they stay in a gated complex which is pointless.

If you are a man or a lady of the world, Marrakech is one of the best places to visit. If you are not, it's one of the worst.

I naturally loved my time there and found the people to be a great bunch of real charachters, who love to fleece ana idiot, but have great respect for a bit of backbone.

The country as a whole is what I would call a tolerant role model for all the other Islamic countries. I was just there during Ramadam with the wife and kids, and we all only have good things to say about the place.
